How long does a newborn session typically last?

A typical newborn session at Shaby Photography can last between 1.5 to 2 hours.
Why so long?
Because your little bundle is the boss! We allow plenty of time for feeding, cuddles, and settling in, so that everything is relaxed and baby-led. These sessions aren’t rushed, as it’s all about creating a calm, warm, and peaceful experience.

Can I include parents and siblings in the newborn photoshoot?

Absolutely – yes you can! Family photos with your precious new arrival are incredibly special. Whether its baby snuggles with Mum and Dad, or big sister proudly holding her new sibling, I can capture them all.
I’ll guide you through gentle, natural poses that feel comfortable and look magical.

What should you bring to your Newborn photography session?

Not much at all! My studio is fully equipped with soft wraps, blankets, props, and backdrops. All designed for your little ones comfort and style.

However, here’s what I recommend bringing:
– Extra nappies and wipes
– Babys feed (bottle or breast essentials)
– A soother (even if baby doesnt usually use one it can help soothe during posing)
– A favourite blanket or soft toy (optional, but can be lovely for sentimental shots)
– A change of clothes for baby and one for you too, just in case!

The most important thing to bring is yourselves and a relaxed vibe I’ll take care of the rest.

When should I book my newborn session?

It’s best to book your newborn session while you’re still pregnant. That way, I can pencil in your due date, and make sure I have space for you around your baby’s arrival.
Since babies rarely arrive exactly on time (as you
already know!), I’ll stay flexible and adjust the session date once your little one is here.

The ideal time to photograph newborns is within the first 5–21 days, when they’re still super sleepy and curly.

If your baby has already arrived
, don’t worry! Pop me a message, and I’ll always do my best to fit you in. It’s never too late to capture these moments 💛Newborn photoshoot with photo of baby Nora who was a perfect model for her first photoshoot

What should my baby wear for the photoshoot?

Plain, soft colours work best. Think pastels, creams, and neutrals. These tones keep the focus on your baby, and create a timeless look that you’ll love for years to come.

Of course you’re very welcome to bring any special outfits you’d like included, but don’t worry if you’re not sure what to pack, as I have a selection of picture-perfect little rig-outs here in the studio too!

Cosy, cute, and camera-ready. 💛
